MazeRunner Manual


Part 1: MazeRunner Editor

Before playing a MazeRunner game you have to design a maze to run yourself. This done through the MazeRunner Editor which is the program that first appears when start MazeRunner. You should see a green grid on the middle and right hand side of the screen. This is the editor's canvas. You can add or delete items to it by selecting an icon and then clicking on a tile (a rectangle in the grid). On the left hand side of the screen are several buttons. These buttons are selector buttons. By clicking on a button you select the icon that is written on the button. Selecting move will allow you to move an icon from one tile to another by dragging the icon you want to move from its original tile to the new tile. Selecting the wall, exit, or enemy icons will add the respective icon to the tile you click on. Selecting the eraser icon will erase whatever icon that is on the tile that you clicked on. Note that since there can be only one hero. The hero will automatically be added to the grid when you first start and you will not be allowed to add more heros or erase the existing hero. The last button is the start button and it is located below the selector buttons. The start button allows you to run your game by creating a MazeRunner Game in a new window.

Part 2: MazeRunner Game

After you click the start button in the editor you're now in the MazeRunner the game. To move your character around use the arrow keys. To make your character stab with a spear press the "s" key. To win the game you must touch an exit tile which is a tile marked with the word "GOAL". You can use the "s" key to stab enemies and after five stabs they turn gray, which means they are out of the game. However if you are stabbed five times you will be out of the game and will have to start over.
